- 1 apple
- 2-3 tablespoons raw nut butter of choice (almond, peanut, etc)
- 2-3 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk (or other nondairy milk alternative)
- Toppings: choose 3-4 of the following – pomegranate, goji berries, chia seeds, chopped nuts, raisins, sunflower seeds, unsweetened dried coconut, or my caramel recipe 😀
Instructions
- Prepare nut butter sauce by mixing the raw nut butter and unsweetened almond milk until you’ve reached a smooth consistency. Feel free to adjust the ratio of nut butter to almond milk to achieve your desired thickness.
- Cut apples into thin slices. We use this and love it!
- Arrange apple slices on plate and drizzle nut butter sauce over them.
- Sprinkle with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
- This snack takes all of 5 minutes to make and is a tummy pleaser. A fun idea for the family is to prepare the apple(s) and nut butter sauce and then make a nacho bar where each family member prepares their own plate by adding whichever toppings they choose.
- I like to make extra nut butter sauce and store it in the fridge for later. Speaking of nut butters, any PURE nut or seed butter will work for this recipe (Almond, Peanut, Cashew, Sunflower Seed, etc). If you’re not sure if your nut butter is pure read this blog post.
- I like to pair red apples with nut butters and green apples with sunflower seed butter. However, you can mix and match as you like.
- In addition to the toppings listed, any dehydrated or fresh berry would be a good topping on apple nachos. In order to keep this recipe as nutrient dense as possible, try to stay away from toppings like candy, store bought caramel sauce, sprinkles, and other processed sweets.
